Wooden Glitter Candles

Well it's week 4 with the CRAFTYMINX.COM CRAFT SUPPLY CHALLENGE and I am done with my project.  I've had this idea in my head for a couple of years and these supplies around WAY TOO LONG!  So this was perfect for me to use them up and participate in the challenge.
Click on the link or picture above to read about the challenge.
Supplies

I pre-drilled one end of the dowels so I could insert a wick (shown a few steps later). Dowels are brushed with Mod Podge and rolled in glitter keeping one end of the dowel free from glitter.

This one I just dipped into the bottle of glitter because it actually fit all the way inside, although it may not look like it from the picture.

Once the glitter was dried and set, I dipped the end without the glitter into my candle wax.  I repeated this process until the wax was built up to cover the wood.  Then I stuck a toothpick into the pre-drilled hole to clear the wax from inside of it before it hardened up.

Waiting to dry.

Insert a cut piece of jute into the dowel by first dipping it into the wax and then into the hole.

Finished and ready to trim my Christmas tree this year!

Thanks Dana for helping me to get a project finished I have wanted to for such a long time!!!

  1. Oh my goodness, those are beautiful! I can't believe you made them! They turned out wonderfully.

I actually have a few (glass) candle ornaments like these that I got as a gift. They were from Pier 1, almost 20 years ago. I'd say you could give Pier 1 a run for their money!

  4. Most people would probably think it's crazy to do a Christmas craft in March, but at least I've got an early start!
